It has been three years since we last heard from Missouri power-popper’s Someone Still Love Your Boris Yeltsin. After a break that included a compilation of demos and an actual meeting with Boris Yeltsin, the band is back with their fourth proper full-length, Fly By Wire, out September 17th on their longtime label Polyvinyl. Fly By Wire can be considered a return to form, as the band went back to the attic where they recorded their first record, Broom. The self production strips away the glossy sheen from the band’s previous two records, replacing it with a warm lo-fi glow. “Nightwater Girlfriend,” the catchiest track on the record, is the band’s latest single. The fist-pumper is sure to please long time fans, as well as turn new listeners on to the group’s sound.
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin plays tonight with Ha Ha Tonka and Ezra Furman at DC9. Tickets are Sold Out.
