The black bear who visited the Spring Valley neighborhood of Northwest D.C. today was released back into the wild by the Washington Humane Society this afternoon. The organization shot video of his return to the woods. Spoiler alert: It’s pretty darn cute.

The bear was spotted by a homeowner near the intersection of 49th Street and Glenbrook Road NW around 8 a.m. today. Washington Humane Society officers responded and found the bear, who “appeared frightened and proceeded to run through the backyards of many residential homes in the area,” according to a statement. After a two hour chase, a Humane Society officer shot the bear with a tranquilizer. He was then recovered in a backyard.

After the bear was found to be healthy, the Humane Society, along with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the D.C. Department of Health, transported the bear to wilderness in the western part of Montgomery County, Md. Happily, the Humane Society shot video of his release.
