IO ECHO are a a duo comprised of Ioanna Gika and Leopold Ross. Their music is dark and gothy, with swatches of a maximalist Zola Jesus, TV on the Radio, and a healthy dose of The Cure. The band is currently on a co-headlining tour with CSS. While they are great in the studio, they are even more beastly on stage. “When The Lilies Die”, from the band’s recently released debut album Ministry of Love, has a “Hong Kong Garden” feel with its whistled melodies, pounding drums and Gika’s wide-ranging voice.
