A man from the Bronx allegedly bit off one of his friend’s ears while driving along Interstate 95 near Spotsylvania, Va. yesterday.

The Free Lance-Star of Fredericksburg has the story:

Spotsylvania County dispatchers received calls at 8:02 a.m. Thursday from drivers on I-95 stating that a man was running in and out of traffic near the 121 mile marker and had blood running down his shoulder.

Capt. Jeff Pearce of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found the victim on the right shoulder of the southbound lane of the interstate near the 123 mile marker, just north of Thornburg.

Pearce said the victim told police that he had a dispute with a friend in the car and during the verbal altercation, the friend “bit his ear off and threw it out in the road.”

Pearce said the victim’s entire ear was missing.

Police recovered the ear, which was then taken with the victim to a hospital for an attempted reattachment. The man who allegedly bit off the ear was charged with malicious wounding.
