MONDAY

The long-running free concert series at Fort Reno in Tenleytown kicks off tonight with The Evens. Despite a historically late start this year – the first concerts were held June 18 in 2012, June 27 in 2011 and June 28 in 2010 – all signs point to a strong showing to this summer’s series of concerts. Just in case you need a reminder of the rules: no alcohol, drugs or glass bottles and bring all the babies, dogs and friends you want. 7:15 p.m, Free.

>> The Howard Theatre: Carla Morrison, Company Calls, Maracuyeah DJs. $17-20, 6 p.m.

WEDNESDAY

Now in its eight year, the annual J. Dilla celebration of one of the greatest hip-hop producers in recent history appears to have produced its strongest line-up to date. The Howard Theatre will be host to De La Soul, Black Thought of The Roots and Oddisee among many others. $40, 9 p.m.

THURSDAY

Things are going to be quite adorkable at this show. Zooey Deschanel has grown from actress-who-likes-to-sing into a full fledged performer over the course of multiple records with M. Ward. As She & Him, the duo has managed to win over critics and fans with their AM Gold-esque songs. Glasgow indie pop band Camera Obscura opens the night at Wolf Trap, $30 lawn/$40 in-house, 8 p.m.

Los Angeles’ Julia Holter who makes hypnotic, droning songs that recalls the orchestral pop music of Laurie Anderson and Arthur Russell will headline the Sixth & I Synagogue. Jessica Pratt shares the bill. $12-15, 8 p.m.

FRIDAY

How do you write a concert blurb for Paul McCartney? The living legend and knight will take the stage at Nationals Park. Surprisingly, this thing isn’t sold out, but if you want get in the stadium and hear the show, there are seats with obstructed views for cheap. $50-$255, 8 p.m.

Consisting of former members of The Mars Volta and Teri Gender Bender of Le Butcherettes, Bosnian Rainbows, who will headline U Street Music Hall, functions as a super group of sorts for the experimental rock crowd. Expansive rock numbers pepper their self-titled debut that was released earlier this year and if the sum of this group’s parts are any indication, the live show should be a force to be reckoned with. $20, 7 p.m.

>> Merriweather Post Pavilion: Belle and Sebastian, Yo La Tengo. $35-$45, 6:30 p.m.
