>> Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller
released his new album, Watching Movies with the Sound Off, recently and is featured presently on the Top 10 pop hit, “The Way,” by Ariana Grande. His tour will be rolling through the Fillmore where he’ll also be joined by Chance The Rapper and The Internet. 8 p.m. $27.50.

>> DC Loves DIlla has been celebrating the musical legacy of late hip-hop producer James “J Dilla” Yancey for eight years. This year’s show is taking place during Hip-Hop Theater Festival week and features De La Soul, The Roots’ Black Thought, composer/conductor Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Muhsinah, Oddisee, Wayna and many more. Everything goes down at the Howard Theatre. 9 p.m. $30 in advance, $35 at the door.

THURSDAY

>> It might be hard for hip-hop heads of a certain age to believe, but Souls of Mischief‘s 93 ’til Infinity is 20 years old. The Bay Area quartet are on the road with a live band to celebrate and will stop by the Rock and Roll Hotel for their D.C. show. 9 p.m. $16 in advance, $18 at the door.

FRIDAY

>> Backbeat Underground is a band steeped in funk and for this show at Tropicalia, they’ll be featuring the emcee talents of Flex Mathews. 9 p.m. $7.

SUNDAY

>> Grammy winner PJ Morton has recorded with Stevie Wonder, played keyboards for Maroon 5, won gospel music awards and is signed to Lil’ Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment. That’s a diverse set of experiences but as an artist it has broadened his audience. The multi-instrumentalist will be at the Howard Theatre to celebrate the release of his album titled after his hometown, New Orleans. 8 p.m. $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
