In order to get children to behave like civilized people, Arlington police will once again bribe them with the sweet, sweet sugar drink known as a Slurpee.

Through 7-Eleven’s Operation Chill, officers will hand out coupons for the frozen treat to kids caught being decent. Possible good deeds include “helping another person, wearing bicycle helmets, participating in positive community activities or picking up trash,” according to a statement.

Chief M. Douglas Scott said in a statement the Slurpee coupons “encourage responsible behavior.” Indeed, is there any better way to “encourage responsible behavior” than sugar?

The Metropolitan Police Department does not participate in the Slurpee giveaway, although the children of Washington would surely appreciate it. Request for comment from the MPD as to why they don’t participate has not been returned.
