As widely predicted in last week’s lineup bingo cards, the 2013 Virgin Mobile FreeFest at Merriweather Post Pavilion will feature performances by the Vineyard Vines indie-rockers Vampire Weekend, faux lothario Robin Thicke, and all-caps groups CHVRCHES and MGMT.
Oh, and Ernest Greene, who performs as chillwave act Washed Out and tipped us off to the Sept. 21 concert date, is indeed on the bill, too. Also rounding out the EDM-heavy schedule are Derek Vincent Smith, better known as Pretty Lights, and the Italian DJ Rocco Rampino, who performs under the moniker Congorock.
The lineup was announced today at 5 a.m. by I.M.P. Productions, which owns Merriweather Post Pavilion and books the annual festival. Tickets to the festival will become available Friday, Aug. 9 through Ticketfly.com. Virgin Mobile will also be collecting donations to house area homeless youth.
And—Hey! Hey! Hey!—if you haven’t heard it yet, here is Vampire Weekend covering Robin Thicke’s hit “Blurred Lines.” One wonders if Thicke will attempt to close the loop during his FreeFest set by sending up, oh, let’s say “Horchata.”
