Leading the tasting will be Chris O’Brien, the Beer Activist and author of Fermenting Revolution: How to Drink Beer and Save the World. FRIDAY: Ask Roulette, a live conversation series where panelists ask each other questions in front of an audience, comes to Politics and Prose (5015 Connecticut Avenue NW) this Friday. Participating in the questions and answering are Clinton Yates of The Washington Post, Linda Holmes of NPR, and Dave Weigel of Slate. 7 p.m. Free.
SATURDAY: Make a trip out to Sky Meadows State Park (11012 Edmonds Lane, Delaplane, Va.) this Saturday to gaze into outer space at a Star Party. Air and Space Museum astronomer Sean O’Brien teams up with amateur astronomers to set up high-power telescopes for the public to view through. There will also be presentations for kids, a talk by a Jet Propulsion Laboratory Solar System Ambassador, and a night sky orientation. 7:30-10:30 p.m. The event is free, but parking is $5.
SUNDAY: DC Beer Week kicks off this Sunday with Hop Chef, a food and beer pairing competition at Long View Gallery (1234 Ninth Street NW). Eight local chefs will go head-to-head cooking and preparing “a unique dish with beers of Brewery Ommegang to earn the title of Hop Chef DC.” 6:30-9:00 p.m. Tickets: $55.
