An air traveler who arrived from out of the country at Dulles International Airport had an extremely prohibited item taken from him Sunday: A mortar round.

According to a release from the Transportation Security Agency, the item was spotted by officers in the man’s checked baggage. Explosive experts determined that the mortar round was inert. The mortar round, a weapon used to blow things up, measured 60 millimeters in length.

The man, who was on his way to Denver, gave up the mortar round willingly. The TSA adds this helpful tip in its press release: “As a reminder, weapons—including inert ones such as inert mortar rounds—are not permitted on aircraft.”
