D.C.’s Mary Christ rocks harder than most bands in the area, and sadly tonight’s show at Fort Reno will be their last. The band exudes riot grrrl without being pretentious about it.

While Mary Christ did not release much recorded music, they did play numerous live dates, and if you haven’t seen their electrifying show, tonight is the perfect opportunity. “Past Self” is a blown-out cut from their four song EP released a year ago. At times, “Past Self” resembles a relic from the early 90s, but it is a modern, forward-thinking song. And it is a shame that the band won’t be around to record more tracks like this.
