D.C.’s landed on yet another list, and though less arbitrary than some previous ones, it still points out the obvious: Washington is growing fast.

As the Washington Business Journal reported, real estate listing service Redfin “ranks Washington as the fifth-fastest market for housing sales,” with a staggering 44.1 percent of houses’ “For Sale” signs disappearing in two weeks or less. And here’s some more crazy facts about just how hot the D.C. market is:

In June, 215 listings in Washington had a contract within 24 hours, ranking Washington No. 1 based on what Redfin calls “Flash Sales.”

Another 32 percent of listings in Washington had signed contracts within a week.

Of course, none of this is surprising. Gentrification is spreading throughout the city like wildfire, as more and more people are looking to traditionally lower-income neighborhoods for affordable housing. So does this mean that new Politics & Prose locations, José Andrés’ restaurants, and fancy Walgreens will soon start popping up in Anacostia, Congress Heights, and Trinidad? Probably.
