It’s safe to say that Jimmy Eat World feels right at home at the 9:30 Club. The band goes out of their way to make a stop at the famous D.C. venue whenever they’re on tour. After all, the club was the scene of their infamous live DVD recording Believe In What You Want, a follow-up to their July 2001 record Bleed American, which was later re-released as Jimmy Eat World following 9/11.

The Mesa, Ariz. rock band recently hit the road in promotion of their new album Damage, which was released in June, and brought their new tracks Sunday to a sold-out crowd that spanned a spectrum of die-hards and those yearning for a taste of some of the band’s most popular songs from the early 2000s.

After a short hello and a story about the hilarity of falling off stages (something more than one group member has experienced, according to frontman Jim Adkins), the band opened up with the single off the new record called “I Will Steal You Back.” They then migrated through tracks from a variety of their past albums, intertwining a number of songs off the new album, including “Damage,” for which the album is named. The band closed out their set appropriately, with their biggest hit, “The Middle.”
