It’s been a dangerous few days for at least two bikers in D.C.
A man was riding his bike in an alley near Nationals Park yesterday when he was shot in the buttocks, the Metropolitan Police Department told the Post.
Officer Araz Alali, a police spokesman, said Joseph Thomas, 28, of Southeast Washington was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He could be arraigned later Friday in D.C. Superior Court.
Police said the adult male victim was shot in the buttocks about 9:30 a.m. as he rode his bicycle in an alley off the 1200 block of First Street SW.
Later that day, a man’s bicycle was stolen at knifepoint on the 800 block of H Street NE, according to a release from MPD. The victim tried to prevent the thief from stealing the bike, which led the thief to produce a knife. The cyclist “sustained minor injuries as a result of being cut with the knife.”
Police are still looking for the perpetrator of that theft.
