WEDNESDAY: Story League presents tales of Villains this Wednesday at their storytelling contest at Busboys and Poets (2021 14th Street NW). Particpants will tell 7 minute true stories about treacherous folks. 9 p.m. $10.

THURSDAY: Part theater, part art installation, part interactive puzzle-solving experience, The Time Machine: A Scientific Romance intrigues us at Union Arts DC (411 New York Avenue NE) tonight through September 1. Presented by a group called the Science Fiction Trope, this experience is manipulated by audience members, who “will determine how everything unfolds through their own actions as they explore the environment and manipulate the objects around them to unlock the laboratory’s secrets.” 7 p.m. first group admitted, 8:20 p.m. last group admitted. $20.

FRIDAY: As part of the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company (641 D Street NW) hosts a conversation about race this Friday with “From Emmett Till to Trayvon Martin: A Town Hall Meeting on Black Bodies and American Racism.” 7-10 p.m. RSVP requested. Free.

SATURDAY: DC Homebrewers and Sam Adams team up for a BBQ at Kastles Stadium (800 Water Street SW) this Saturday. Admission price includes “a heaping plate of BBQ (vegetarian option will be available), 2 sides, hand-crafted soda, Sam Adams beer and an additional beer ticket for one of several craft beers” available. Along with food and drink, there will also be presentations on “Brewing Historical Beers,” “Beer Judging Tips and Tricks,” “Hops 101,” and more. 2-6 p.m. $15.

SUNDAY: Six local bartenders “compete to create the best old fashioned in town” while attendees enjoy “bourbon, bison, and bivalves” at the Old Fashioned Showdown at Bourbon Steak (2800 Pennsylvania Avenue NW) this Sunday. 12-3 p.m. $70.
