Well, this is certainly disturbing: A D.C. man pleaded guilty last week to one count of attempted second-degree child sexual abuse for attacking a nine-year-old girl in broad daylight.
According to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office, the perpetrator, 27-year-old Demetrick Littlejohn, agreed last Friday to an Alford plea, which means he did “not admit the allegations but agrees that the government has enough evidence to secure a conviction.”
The incident occurred on July 27 at around 1:15 p.m., when the girl and her godmother where coming out of a store on H Street NE, near 7th Street. According to the U.S. Attorney, Littlejohn snatched the girl away from her godmother, whispered in her ear that he “wanted to have sex with the girl,” and then threw her to the ground and “engaged in sexual contact with her until another man pulled him away.” Littlejohn walked away, but was later picked up by police.
According to police, Littlejohn was high on PCP at the time of the incident and said he doesn’t recall what happened.
Littlejohn is scheduled for sentencing on October 18 and faces up to five years in prison. He will be required to register as a sex offender for ten years.
