The mayoral campaign of Councilmember Jack Evans (D-Ward 2) added $40,000 to its coffers earlier this month, thanks to a swanky party held on an island 500 miles away from D.C. called Nantucket.

The Washington Post reports that former Mayor Anthony Williams and Wizards owner Ted Leonsis were in attendance, as were other D.C. residents vacationing on the Island of Lilly Pulitzer Pants. Democratic fundraiser Max Berry, who hosted the event, told the Post it was “purely coincidental” that Williams was in town at the same time the “very nice party” was held. Williams did not endorse Evans.

Evans, who announced his bid in June, reported raising $377,028 on a July 31 campaign finance report.
