Remember Black Kids? The bouncy Jacksonville, Fla. troupe hit it big off the promise of their debut EP. But after releasing their first album in 2008, the band’s critical mass slowly waned.

A digital EP followed in 2009, but after some festival appearances, the band faded into obscurity. The five-piece is back and working on a new album that they hope will be out sometime in 2014. Known for sardonic indie-pop, the band knows how to rock a live show. Tonight they play DC9 on their brief tour. “I’m Not Gonna To Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You” is the band’s biggest hit, and easily the best song.
