D.C. really loves burritos and public libraries, apparently.

Over $2,500 was raised for the D.C. Public Library Foundation last night during a three-hour fundraiser at select Chipotles in the city. According to Linnea D. Hegarty, the foundation’s executive director, about 500 people visited one of the 12 participating restaurants to help out local libraries.

“Chipotle has been a major sponsor of this year’s Summer Reading program, both with this fundraiser and through giveaways of free burrito and kids’ meal coupons, and we’re very grateful to them for their support of our important work,” Hegarty said in an email.

Give yourself a pat on the back (and a dose of an antacid), D.C. You deserve it.
