The 50th anniversary of the March on Washington will be marked by several events in D.C. from today through next week. Below is a listing of rallies, marches, lectures and other events, free and otherwise, that will celebrate the historic civil rights moment.

Thursday
Pre-March Rally Sign Making Party: Supporters of D.C. statehood will meet at Freedom Plaza (14th and Pennsylvania Avenue NW) to make signs for Saturday’s rally. Noon to 4 p.m.

Friday
The Redeem the Dream Summit: The National Urban League will host a summit in the Independence Ballroom at the Grand Hyatt (515 15th Street NW). A full list of panels can be seen here. Registration required. 8:30 a.m. Free.

Saturday

Realize the Dream March and Rally: Organized by the National Action Network, participants with gather at the Lincoln Memorial at 8 a.m. “to stand together against the recent attack on voter rights, against Stand Your Ground and racial profiling, and to continue to raise awareness on unemployment, poverty, gun violence, immigration, gay rights and other critical issues affecting our nation.” Speakers include the Rev. Al Sharpton, Martin Luther King, III, the families Trayvon Martin and Emmett Till, Rep. John Lewis; Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer. A march to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial will take place after the rally.

D.C. Statehood Rally: Mayor Vincent Gray and supporters of D.C. statehood will gather at the D.C. War Memorial (900 Independence Avenue SW) “for a short program at 9 a.m. before we march as a group at 9:30 a.m. to the Lincoln Memorial for the national program to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the August 28,1963 March on Washington. We will be marching for all of the unfinished business from 1963, but most especially for statehood for D.C. – the only way to end D.C.’s colonial status and for the people of the D.C. to have the right to govern themselves and have all the same democratic rights as other Americans.”

March on Washington 50th Anniversary Family Day: The National Portrait Gallery will host a March on Washington 50th Anniversary Family Day in the Kogod Courtyard. “Vocalists Kim and Reggie Harris will perform for guests, and visitors can participate in a slogan button-making activity hosted by the National Museum of African American History and Culture.” 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free.

Sunday

“I Have a Dream” Gospel Brunch: The Willard InterContinental (1401 Pennsylvania Avenue NW) will host a gospel brunch featuring singer Denyce Graves, members of the King family and former ambassador Andrew Young. A wax figure of Martin Luther King, Jr. from Madame Tussauds will be on display. 11:30 a.m. $132 per person.

Tuesday

A Global Perspective Lecture The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library (901 G Street NW) will host a lecture by lecture by John W. Franklin, Director of Partnerships and International Programs at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. “His presentation will examine the historic event based on his travels abroad and cover civil rights memorabilia collected by the museum.” 6:30 p.m. Free.

Wednesday

March for Jobs and Justice: This march, on the actual anniversary of the March on Washington, will begin at 8 a.m. at 600 New Jersey Avenue, N.W. and stop at the Department of Justice (10th and Constitution Avenue N.W.) for a rally. Let Freedom Ring Commemoration & Call to Action: “The program begins with an interfaith service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial on the Tidal Basin, followed by the ‘Let Freedom Ring’ Commemoration and Call to Action at the nearby Lincoln Memorial from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. that includes the bell-ringing ceremony at 3:00 p.m.”

University of District of Columbia Jazz Ensemble Concert: The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library (901 G Street NW) will host a concert from the University of the District of Columbia Small Jazz ensemble. Noon. Free.
