Saturday’s March on Washington anniversary event wasn’t attended by people supporting just one cause. Indeed, people supporting everything from union rights to statehood for D.C. to the Washington football team changing its name came out with signs to raise awareness about their cause.

Matthew Murguia, an area resident for 28 years, told DCist contributor Sriram Gopal that he chose the to protest the name at the Realize the Dream March and Rally because “It’s a huge crowd that understands the value of words and the hurt words can cause.”

“I can’t support the team because of the name, simple as that,” Murguia said. “Change the name and you’ve got another fan.”
