Frager’s Hardware will re-open its paint store in a temporary location this Saturday, taking another step toward rebuilding after a devastating four-alarm fire earlier this year.
As The Hill is Home reported, Frager’s paint store will re-open at at 1129 Pennsylvania Avenue SE, which is next to the original store’s yard.
Frager’s is currently operating a pop-up garden center out of Eastern Market, where they are selling plants and miscellaneous hardware items, and are cutting keys. Its Just Ask Rentals store is now located at 1323 E Street SE.
While Frager’s owner John Weintraub originally applied for raze permits for the building, he then met with the District’s Historic Preservation Office and the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs to discuss saving it, as the Washington Business Journal reported.
Request for comment from Frager’s spokesperson for an update on this process was not immediately returned.
Update: The new paint store will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5:55 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
