In journalism, the phrase ‘Man Bites Dog’ refers to how an unusual event or occurrence is more likely to be covered in the news than an ordinary, everyday thing. Like a man biting a dog, instead of a dog biting a man. But you know what? Screw it, we’re doing a story about a dog biting a man woman.

A reader sent us this photo of a flyer posted around Rock Creek Park, explaining that a man bit by a dog while on a run in the park last Saturday is looking for the dog’s owner:

If you are the fit white lady with the black dog—potentially Rottweiler mix—(or know said owner) that bit me while running on Saturday (8/31) on the Battery Kimble trail around 3pm, can you please contact me. I don’t want to press any charges, I just want to be sure that your dog has has an up to date rabies vaccination. Thank you!

A very reasonable request and, who knows, maybe this will result in a whole Must Love Dogs-like romance. Kind of like that lady in Columbia Heights who posted those “Lost Unicorn” flyers to try and find a date.

DCist reached out to the flyer poster for more information to see if the “fit white lady” has gotten back, but a request for comment has yet to be returned.

So, if you’re the “fit white lady” with the black dog, might want to shoot an email over to DogBitMyBumDC@gmail.com (yes, seriously) and put this whole mystery dog bite business to rest.

Update: The flyer poster sent this email to DCist:

No, the woman has unfortunately not contacted me yet. I had to report the
incident (given the unknown status of the rabies vaccination of the dog) to
the Department of Health, who contacted animal control, who is helping
patrol the area to find the dog and owner.

I honestly am not mad or upset about anything, and wish no ill-will towards
the dog or owner, I’m just trying to save myself the hassle and financial
burden of rabies shots. I’m lucky, my insurance will cover the shots 100%
(they are prohibitively expensive), but I have to go to an ER for each shot
in the series (4 shots), so I’ll be shelling out $600 in copays for it.

I’m starting the series tomorrow afternoon, so I’m hoping to hear back from
her before then. I ran through the park last night and at least one of my
signs had been taken down.

She’s written about the incident in more detail over at her blog.
