Those with Amtrak travel plans in the near future may need to find some alternative means of transportation. Amtrak announced this afternoon that service between D.C. and Philly has been temporarily halted.
Service Update: Service on the NEC is suspended btwn Washington and Philly due to overhead wire damage. Repairs are underway.

The Post reports that engineering crews are currently working to get everything back up and running, but it’s not known how long service will be out.
DCist reached out to Amtrak for more information, we’ll update when we learn more.
Update: Service has been restored. Amtrak tweeted out the following statement:
Service restored DC/Philly. Extensive congestion delays expected due to single track operations through affected area as repairs continue.

The Post reports that passengers can expect one-to-two hour delays for the rest of the day.
