A Maryland man who worked at three D.C. churches was sentenced to 21-months in prison today for failing to register as a sex offender.
According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, Gary Darrell Mabry of Baltimore was registered as a sex offender in Maryland, which he is required to do because of three prior convictions in that state and D.C. “for sex offenses involving minor victims, ages 13 and 14.” But the 34-year-old wasn’t registered in D.C., where he worked at three churches in “music-related positions.”
Mabry pleaded guilty in May and will now serve 21-months in prison.
Upon completion of his prison term, Mabry will be placed on five years of supervised release. During that time, he must comply with all sex offender registration requirements, undergo sex offender assessment and treatment, and abide by limitations regarding contact with minors.
