A 74-year-old pediatrician who lived and worked in Southwest D.C. pleaded guilty today to possessing child pornography.
Robert Paul Dickey was arrested on May 8, one month after law enforcement received a “cyber tip” from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that the doctor had uploaded 14 images of child pornography. A search warrant and subsequent forensic analysis turned up 132 images of child pornography from various devices.
On the day we was arrested, “authorities say they found Dickey inside his personal office viewing a website with child pornography and child erotica on the desktop computer,” WJLA reported. He was scheduled to see 20 patients that day.
“Dr. Dickey was entrusted to care for the well-being of children, but he instead chose to
collect images of their sexual exploitation,” Ron Machen, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, said in a release.
Dickey will be sentenced in December and could face 20 years in prison, as well as up to $250,000 in fines.
