Boise, Idaho is not know for much other than its football team’s hideous turf let alone their indie rock scene. SATURDAY
After date leaks, bingo picks and a fifth consecutive “free’d out”, Virgin Mobile Free Fest is upon us yet again. The 2013 iteration of the festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion will include your indie-rock heavy hitters like Vampire Weekend and The Avett Brothers as well as Stephen Colbert ass saver Robin Thicke. If you missed an opportunity to get your free tickets, you can always pay the $49.50 to get in the gates. If you’re looking for tickets, Craigslist is your best bet. 11 a.m.
If you don’t want to deal with the logistical headache that comes getting to and from a free music festival in the suburbs, Deerhunter will be performing at the 9:30 Club in support of Monomania. The band, who was just in town a few months back at the Sixth & I Synagouge, has brought along Crystal Stilts who released their latest record Nature Noir this Tuesday. $20, 7 p.m.
