On Wednesday, video surfaced of GOP Congressman Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Texas) scolding a U.S. Park Service Ranger for trying to keep tourists and WWII vets out of the WWII Memorial. The memorial that is, of course, supposed to be closed because of the federal government shutdown caused by the GOP.
That video went pretty viral, leaving many people pretty pissed off at Neugebauer. So pissed off, in fact, that one person has started a petition to make Neugebauer apologize to the Park Service Ranger he yelled at. Here’s what the petition, started by Nelson Jacobsen, says:
Randy Neugebauer, Representative (Republican- Texas 19th District) rebuked a U.S. Park Service Ranger for carrying out orders and did so in a very public way that makes it look like the Represertaitive of TX’s 19th doesn’t understand how public law and chain of command works by incorrectly interfering in the duties of his fellow public empolyee. Rep Neugebauer needs correct himself and publicly apologize to the U.S. Park Service Ranger it’s really that simple.
At the time of writing, the petition only has five signatures, but you can probably expect that number to rise, especially since Vice President Joe Biden told the Park Ranger that he’s “proud of her” in a phone call.
“I’m proud of you,” VP called to tell the Park Ranger who was chastised by a GOP Rep today at the WWII Memorial.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Park Service Rangers are still out there, hard at work being big ‘ol jerks, doing things like letting families at the WWII Memorial take cute pictures of their kids wearing Park Service Ranger hats, as DCist reader Matt Rollins tells us.
You know, jerk things. Am I right, Neugebauer?
