COMEDY: Rory Albanese, executive producer of The Daily Show, does stand-up on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage (2700 F Street NW) this evening with local comedian Tim Miller. Free, but tickets required. Ticket distribution starts at 5:30 p.m. (2 tickets per person maximum) and the show starts at 6 p.m.

BOOK TALK: Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love, discusses her new book The Signature of All Things, “a story of botany, exploration and desire, spanning across much of the 19th century,” at Sixth and I Historic Synagogue (600 I Street NW) tonight. 7 p.m. Tickets: $35 (includes admission and a copy of the book).

STORYTELLING: Good story, but is it true? Hear four stories and find the fibber at the Science Club’s (1136 19th Street NW) Perfect Liars Club storytelling event tonight. 7 p.m. $5.

Coming up this week…

TUESDAY: Work off those burgers and concretes at Shake Shack’s new running club: Shack Track & Field. Tuesday’s run begins at Pacers Logan Circle (1427 P Street NW), weaves around D.C.’s closed monuments, and concludes at Shake Shack’s Dupont Circle location (so you can gain back all the calories you just burned). A bag check will be available at Pacers and the bags will be delivered to the run’s finish. 7 p.m.

WEDNESDAY: DC Bike Party is getting in the Halloween spirit this Wednesday with The Riding Dead, a zombie-themed bike ride. Dress up in your best undead gear, meet in the middle of Dupont Circle Wednesday night, lurch and pedal through the city until you end up at the Congressional Cemetery for an after party complete with live performance by the Bumper Jacksons. Meet at 7:30 p.m., the ride starts at 8 p.m. Free.

THURSDAY: The Bentzen Ball comedy festival kicks off this Thursday with comedians Tig Notaro, Doug Benson, Wyatt Cenac, and Heather Lawless at the 9:30 Club (815 V Street NW). 7:00 p.m. $25.

FRIDAY: Union Market’s (1309 5th Street NE) Drive-In movie series celebrates National Cookbook Launch Day this Friday with a screening of Julie and Julia. 8 p.m. Free.

SATURDAY: Taste of DC brings over 70 restaurants, over 50 beers and 50 wines, and live entertainment to Pennsylvania Avenue between 9th and 14th Streets NW this Saturday and Sunday. It will also host the Ben’s Chili Bowl World Chili Eating contest (Saturday) and a BGR Burger Eating Contest (Sunday). Noon-7 p.m. Tickets: $10 general admission, $5 children between 6 and 12 (children 5 and under are free).

SUNDAY:The Bentzen Ball comedy festival concludes on Sunday with Ira Glass (of NPR’s This American Life) and friends at the Lincoln Theatre (1215 U Street NW). 7 p.m. Tickets: $30.
