RUNNING: Work off those burgers and concretes at Shake Shack’s new running club: Shack Track & Field. Tonight’s run kicks off at Pacers Logan Circle (1427 P Street NW), weaves around D.C.’s closed monuments, and concludes at Shake Shack’s Dupont Circle location (so you can gain back all the calories you just burned). A bag check will be available at Pacers and the bags will be delivered to the run’s finish. 7 p.m.

DISCUSSION: Join the Younger Women’s Task Force and American Association of University Women (AAUW) at BlackFinn (1620 I Street NW) for a Cocktails & Convos events focused on D.C. rights. The speaker of the night is AAUW regulatory affairs manager Beth Scott, who will discuss “what D.C.’s lack of independence from the federal government means for everyday life in the District and how you can stand up for D.C. rights.” The cocktail of the evening will be the “Empowertini.” 5:30-7:30 p.m.

MOVIE: Get excited about space, even while NASA suffers through the government shutdown, at Uptown Theater’s (3426 Connecticut Avenue NW) 3D showing of Gravity at 2:25 p.m., 4:45 p.m., and 7:15 p.m. tonight. $10.50-$15.50.
