Ocean Spray—the country’s preeminent supplier of cranberry juice and quirky commercials—has brought a cranberry bog to D.C.
Why have they done this? Well, it’s not entirely clear, but a press release says it’s so that passersby can “discover the rich history and heritage of the cranberry.” But this isn’t the first city they’ve done this in. Last year, they set one up outside of Rockefeller Center in New York City. I guess the cranberry juice industry isn’t doing so well.
Anyway, for today and tomorrow, the all-natural fruit drink cooperative has brought D.C. its first-ever cranberry bog to Union Station. The details, in all their cranberry-soaked gloriousness:
The cranberry bog replica, complete with 2,000 pounds of fresh, floating cranberries, provides a stunning backdrop for Ocean Spray grower-owners to share the taste, health and heritage of this uniquely American fruit. The cranberry bog exhibit is free and will be open to the public 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday.
