Last Friday, the Washington Humane Society reported four horrific acts of animal cruelty that occurred in D.C. in a two-day span. Three of the animals didn’t make it, but one pitbull did.

Now the WHS needs donations for that dog’s care, as well as for the care of other abused animals. Here’s the latest on the pitbull, who’s been named McFly.

Last Thursday, WHS Officers found McFly in a wooded Southeast, DC area in critical condition with numerous bite wounds over his entire body and lacerations across his neck consistent with an attempt to slit his throat. He has received extensive medical treatment and has shown great improvement. McFly is very sweet and surprisingly energetic. As soon as McFly is discharged he will live with one of our medical foster volunteers until he is healthy enough for adoption. WHS continues to seek information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for this horrific act of animal cruelty.

The WHS also needs donations to care for a dog named Jay, who was found abandoned and severely emaciated, and two kittens with injured legs.

Last week, Scott Giacoppo, WHS vice president of external affairs, said there’s been an increase in reported animal cruelty cases this year.
