Nope, not this year. Photo by kimberlyfaye

We’re only halfway through October, but already the seasonal aisle at Target is stocked up with holiday and Christmas paraphernalia. So, you know what that means: Winter is coming.

As such, AccuWeather has released its outlook for this winter season and it doesn’t look good for you snow aficionados. “I would lean just below normal [for snow] at this point [in D.C.],” AccuWeather lead long range forecaster Paul Pastelok tells the Post. According to their outlook, winter “will begin mildly” this year, “with a long duration of above-normal temperatures.” NOOOOOOOO.

But don’t keep your T-shirts out for too much longer, AccuWeather also says that “one snow system and some chilly air could come at times during November, however.” AccuWeather is also predicting that “temperatures will fall in the latter part of the season, likely the beginning of January, allowing snow to fall along the I-95 corridor.”

Be cautious though, as the Post points out, AccuWeather hasn’t been very accurate in their predictions in the past few years:

AccuWeather is attempting to get the winter outlook right in the D.C. area for the first time since 2009-2010, when it correctly forecast a prolific snow producer prior to the record-setting Snowmageddon winter.

Since then, it’s been off-the-mark three straight years.
