Since going live on October 1, over 12,000 people and 400 small business have made accounts on D.C.’s Affordable Care Act health exchange website.

To be more exact, 12,294 individual accounts and 426 small business (meaning there are fewer than 50 full-time employees) accounts have been created. On the first day alone, 4,121 individuals and families, as well as 136 employers, made accounts.

“A total of 1,894 individuals and families have completed an online application required to
purchase coverage on DCHealthLink.com,” a release says. “This includes 815 short form applications for coverage without premium reductions.”

Residents have until December 15 “to request an invoice and pay their first month’s premium in order to have benefits effective” January 1, according to the release. Over 300 individuals and families have selected a health plan to enroll in and 164 have requested an invoice. “Small business owners can choose to purchase coverage and enroll their employees through DCHealthLink.com at any time,” the release continues.

We’ll have more details later.
