Daniel Snyder: Washington football team; $1 billion; Potomac, Md.
Earlier today, TMZ reported that Washington football team owner Dan Snyder is maybe, possibly considering changing the team’s racist name and mascot, based on some questionable evidence.
According to TMZ, one of Snyder’s neighbors, patent investor Aris Mardirossian, registered the name Washington Bravehearts on October 17, which the trademark application states would be used for “entertainment in the nature of football games.”
Mardirossian also reportedly created a company called Washington Bravehearts, LLC on October 17. CBS Sports reports that Mardirossian has also bought the domain name www.WashingtonBravehearts.com.
But the team says all of these pieces of evidence that Snyder is planning a name change are false. In a statement obtained by Grant Paulsen, co-host of Washington Football Tonight, the team says there “is no connection between the [team] and this trademark.”

Redskins spokesman Tony Wyllie, when approached for comment on TMZ story: “Dan Snyder does not even know the man mentioned in the report.”

Although Washington football team spokesman Tony Wyllie says that Snyder “does not even know the man mentioned in the report,” TMZ reports that they have indeed met before.
“As for the relationship between Aris and Dan, we’re told the 2 of them formed a united front on their block a few years back — both men wanted to cut down trees on their lots but they were being blocked by the county.”
Well shit, I was really looking forward to seeing this clip play every five minutes at FedEx Field:
