VARIETY: Tilted Torch’s Halloween-themed variety show, Spook-o-rama, brings burlesque, music, performance art, and more to the Anacostia Arts Center (1231 Good Hope Road SE) tonight. 9:00 p.m. $10 in advance, $15 day of. — Lis Grant

THROWBACK JAMS: Autre Ne Veut’a latest album, Anxiety, is just one of the many albums of late that channels 80s and early 90s R&B — How To Dress Well’s Total Loss and Rhye’s Woman come to mind as well — and manage to pull it off. The 30-year-old Brooklyn musician will be headlining the Rock And Roll Hotel. Three Stars alum Lenorable will open the show with their darkwave inspired pop. $14, 8 p.m. — Andy Hess

PUNK ROCK HALLOWEEN: For many, Halloween is the time of year for pumpkin-flavored beer, scary movies, and haunted hayrides. For D.C.’s DIY punk community, Halloween means one thing: Cover shows. Tonight, DIY punk house The Rocketship in Columbia Heights kicks off the first of many punk rock cover shows benefitting various charities. Tonight’s lineup is particularly inspired and all over the place: Nine Inch Nails, Zombies, Swans, and Jawbreaker. $5 with costume, $7 without. The Rocketship is located at 1223 Decatur St. NW. Starts at 7 p.m.

Saturday

BRAAAIIIIINNNSSS: Put on your best undead makeup and head to downtown Silver Spring for the annual Silver Spring Zombie Walk. Members of the undead should gather in front of Jackie’s Sidebar between 7 p.m. and 8, and start stumbling through downtown Silver Spring at 9. After participants have had their fill on the flesh of the living, they’ll end up in front of the AFI Silver Theater, which is showing a double feature of Return of the Living Dead and Shaun of the Dead. Party.

COSTUME CONTEST: The 14th annual Nightmare on M Street will culminate once again with a costume contest at the bar hellscape known as McFadden’s. Drink specials include $2 Coors Lights, $3 Blue Moons, $4 Bacardi and $4 Monster Energy drinks. 5 p.m.-1 .m. Tickets $27.50. — Sarah Anne Hughes

COSTUME CONTEST (FOR YOUR POOCH): Howl To The Chief and Rural Dog Rescue (which, disclosure, I volunteer for) will host the Howl-O-Ween costume contest in Lincoln Park. Categories include most original, best look-alike and homemade costume. There will also be a parade of adoptable dogs, who I can personally guarantee are wonderful. 1 p.m. — Sarah Anne Hughes

PICKITUP PICKITUP PICKITUP: Local ska-punk band Kill Lincoln bring their energetic, no-frills third-wave ska to the main stage of DC9. Supporting their latest release, That’s Cool…In a Totally Negative and Destructive Way, which harkens back to the days when ska-punk bands like Reel Big Fish, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and Less Than Jake dominated the airwaves for a brief time. NYC pop-punk act Broadcaster and local rootsy punk trio Collapser open. $10, doors at 9 p.m.

STRANGE BREW: Bardo brewpub and beer garden will be tapping a fourteen year old keg of beer, thus putting to rest the myth of whether or not beer has an expiration date (I kid, I know it does). Anyway, the brew, an award-winning barleywine has been in the cellar for the past fourteen years, aging to perfection. Some even say it’s one of the oldest beers on the planet. Apparently there are approximately only 200 glasses in the keg. $45 gets you a pour and a Commemorative Glass. The tapping starts at 3 p.m. and I advise you not to be late. Bardo brewpub is located at 1200 Bladensburg Road, NE.

Sunday

HIP HOP YOU DON’T STOP: Just a few months ago, Chicago emcee Chance the Rapper was an opening act for Mac Miller at the Fillmore Silver Spring. He’s back at the same venue behind his critically acclaimed mixtape Acid Rap, which is arguably the best hip-hop release of 2013, if not the most fun. He’s brought along fellow Chicago native and juke/footwork pioneer DJ Rashad, who will release his debut full length Double Cup tomorrow. Spinn also will open the show. $26.50, 7 p.m. — Andy Hess

TRICK-OR-TREAT: Take the little monsters trick-or-treating at the National Zoo this weekend (Friday and Sunday, Saturday has sold out), at the annual Boo at the Zoo event. 5:30-8:30 p.m. $20-$30. — Lis Grant

JAZZ: Trio Caliente has spent ten years honing a sound that exists at the intersection of flamenco, Brazilian jazz and contemporary pop. The band will be at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club on Sunday. 7:30 p.m. Tickets $12 plus food and drink minimum. — Sriram Gopal
