How can you tell when nerd culture has reached it’s apotheosis? When video game nerd culture gets appropriated into a cutesy love song with an even cutesy-er accompanying music video.

And that’s just what’s happened with this music video from local singer-songwriter, Lan Nguyen. “Video Game Love Song” is as awkward and quirky as you’d expect, but it’s also a pretty great little video that turns various D.C. locales into your favorite video game settings. The Chinatown Arch becomes Chun Li’s stage in the original Street Fighter, the Smithsonian Castle becomes Princess Peach’s castle, and Rock Creek Park doubles as the Kokiri Forest from The Legend of Zelda.
