A D.C. fire engine and a car collided in Southeast D.C. this afternoon, injuring the driver of the car and four firefighters.
D.C. Fire and EMS spokesperson Tim Wilson said the driver of the car was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. As the Post first reported, it took firefighters 30 minutes to extricate the driver from the vehicle. The four firefighters all suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Wilson said it appears the fire engine was returning after responding to a call and the vehicle was struck at at 53rd Street and Drake Place.
