Big news on the Nationals front: The team has hired Matt Williams as their new field manager.

President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement today, singing Williams on a multi-year contract. “I am thrilled to welcome Matt to our organization and am confident he is the best choice to lead the Nationals at this time,” Rizzo said in a press release. “He is exceptionally prepared for the task. Matt came into the interview process already possessing an extensive knowledge of our organization: our roster, our Minor League system – and our fan base.”

Williams comes from the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he spent the past four years with them—the past three as their third base coach. He’ll succeed Davey Johnson, who served as the Nats’ manager for the past 2 1/2 seasons and is now the fifth manager for the Nats organization.

Here’s hoping Williams can reverse the #satitude back to #natitude next season.
