The folks at Ripple invited us up to Cleveland Park last week to check out their Fall of Rhône wine dinner menu. The neighborhood restaurant is touting the wines that go well with fall foods, pouring over 20 Rhône and Rhône-style wines by the glass or bottle until winter comes. A special wine menu notes that the red wines are distinct for being “meaty and gamey, warming the soul.” Among twelve reds and a half dozen whites, general manager and wine impresario Danny Fisher throws in an orange wine from a Berkeley, Calif. winery. The wine style takes its name from the orange tinge that comes from extra contact time with the grape skins, not typical of white wines.
Chef Marjorie Meek-Bradley was on hand to showcase dishes available as part of a tasting menu pairing with the Rhône wines.
