Some disheartening news for a Friday afternoon: The Metropolitan Police Department and fire officials have recovered a body from the Potomac River, near the Watergate Hotel Complex.

An MPD public information officer tells DCist that officials recovered the body of an unidentified female at approximately 1:45 p.m. today, about one hundred meters south of Thompson’s Boathouse, near the shoreline. The boathouse is located at 2900 Virginia Avenue NW. We’ll update when more information becomes available.
