FRIDAY
BURLESQUE: The Epic Win Nerdlesque burlesque crew features performers who speak Klingon and Elvish, travel with their comic books, and love their video games. See them perform this Friday in two shows at the Black Cat (1811 14th Street NW). 8:45 p.m. and 11 p.m. $12 in advance, $15 day of. — Lis Grant
PARTY: The French Embassy will host the “American Werewolves in Paris” gala and party, which will feature an open bar, DJs, live music and French food. Attendees are asked to wear either black tie or a costume. Here are the rules on that: “Given that we are in perhaps the most elegant mansion in Washington, though not required, we ask that your costume be on the elegant and masquerade style. However, if you want to wear something more 21st Century and down to earth, feel free. French themed costumes or Masquerade Style is strongly encouraged. Costumes that are not tasteful (including “togas”), however, will not be permitted. Got that? Three prizes will be awarded for the best French-themed costume, the scariest and the most original. 8:15-11:45 p.m. Tickets are $84 each. – Sarah Anne Hughes
HALLOWEEN PARTY: Sure, Halloween may technically be over, but just because the calendar says it’s November, doesn’t mean we can’t extend All Hallow’s Eve celebrations into the weekend. Luckily, Dupont Circle’s KABIN has got you covered as they transform into Haunted Kabin with their Heroes vs. Villains party tonight. There will be superhero-themed cocktails, like the Incredible Hulk (no idea what’s in it, but it sounds intimidating), and there will be a $20 open bar from 11 p.m. to 12 a.m. The fete is cover-free, but best reserve a spot, open bar ticket, or table here. KABIN is located at 1337 Connecticut Ave. NW — Matt Cohen
FRINGE: Fall Fringe kicks off tonight. Don’t know what to see? Luckily for you, DCist has put together this handy guide so you know what’s worth seeing and what isn’t. All the info you need regarding shows, schedules, prices, parties, etc. is right here. — Matt Cohen

MORE MOVIES: MOVIES: This year, The Alden in McLean is celebrating Halloween with the screening of two scary movies, something old and something relatively new. The celebration begins at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, with the 1920 classic film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Tickets are $10, $6 for MCC district residents. On Saturday, Nov. 2, at 8 p.m., the theatre will show 2011’s Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. Admission is free. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue. — Lis Grant
MEET & GREET & MARKET: It’s the first Saturday of the month, which means it’s time again for the 15th Street Meet Market. Located at 15th and P Streets NW, the Meet Market brings over 40 local vendors—including designers, artisans, local businesses, and food vendors—along with live music (tomorrow features performances from School of Rock, Harness Flux, Dot Dash, and Metal Panda). There will also be some post-Halloween Trick-or-Treating at each of the vendor’s booths, so don’t pack up your little one’s costumes quite yet. Starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 5 p.m. Free. For more information, click here. — Matt Cohen
PAINT IT BLACK: On record, Black Lips’ brand of psychedelic garage rock doesn’t exactly sound like the kind of stuff that would induce vomiting, urination, nudity, and just about every other raucous thing in the rock book, but that’s just what their live shows are. The Atlanta, Ga. quartet come play Black Cat tonight and will, presumably, bring their GG Allin-inspired stage antics to The Cat. Pro tip: Don’t stand in the front row. $18, 9 p.m. Black Cat is located at 1811 14th St. NW. — Matt Cohen
DOG DRINKS: Join Rural Dog Rescue (of which I am a volunteer) for their monthly happy hour at the Ugly Mug (723 8th Street SE). Fifteen percent of the proceeds go to the rescue’s Critical Care Fund. 3:30-5:30 p.m. — Sarah Anne Hughes

His band, the Robert Glasper Experiment, is one of the best groups working today and will be performing a 7:30 p.m. show on Sunday at The Birchmere. Tickets $49.50. — Sriram Gopal
