After a surprisingly close race, Democratic businessman and operative Terry McAuliffe was declared the next governor of Virginia.

McAuliffe defeated current Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli with just over 47 percent of the vote. Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis received just under seven percent of voter love.

Also a victor tonight is lieutenant governor-elect Ralph Northam, who is currently a Democratic state senator representing Norfolk. Northam defeated pastor, awful personal view-haver and watermelon destroyer E.W. Jackson.

Of the two Marks running for Cuccinelli’s current job, the Republican Mark (Obenshain) was leading with just over 94 percent of the precincts reporting.

So, instead of a Tea Party favorite and Duggar friend who campaigned on sodomy, Virginia’s next governor will be a man who has no experience in office and is a “money-raising machine with no core.” Sorry/Congrats, Virginia.
