Photo by Fail C.Maple, the popular 11 Street NW eatery, will expand into the space formerly occupied by Columbia Heights Coffee, as PoPville first reported.
Owners Eric Gronning and Lori Robertson confirmed the news in an email, saying they are “sad” to see Columbia Heights coffee leave. The coffee shop, which opened years before the 11th Street strip of the neighborhood saw a large amount of growth, closed last month.
“They were great neighbors and the nicest people,” they continued.
The expansion will allow Maple to nearly double its indoor seating capacity, “with seating on the ground floor as well as a second-floor space that can also be used for private events.” They will also be able to take reservations, create an outdoor patio in the back and expand the kitchen.
While more details weren’t available, Gronning and Robertson said they are aiming for a spring opening for the expansion.
