Deleted Scenes is one of the hardest working bands from D.C. The band has grown through their two full-lengths and continues to evolve into one of the best bands from the area. The quartet, who splits time all around the country, is prepping a new album for release next year and has released the first single, “Stutter.” Deleted Scenes has always had some weirdness in their music, but has never let go of control, so it is a surprise to see them finally take the break off and go head on. “Stutter,” like the song’s snake, is built on side-winding guitars and stuttering drums, with Dan Scheuerman’s crazy fun house vocals cutting through the song. The track feels like a remix and that is a good thing. After playing it safe for so long “Stutter” is a great skin shedding moment for the band.
Deleted Scenes play with Young Rapids Friday night at Iota Club and Cafe. Tickets are $12.
