At approximately 2:36 p.m. today, the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a man with a gun who had barricaded himself inside of a business on the 1500 block of East Capitol Street NE.

Details are scarce, but an MPD public information officer tells DCist that the suspect, described only as male, entered the business at about 2:30 p.m. and the situation was over by 3:30 p.m. No injuries were reported, and the suspect is now in custody. The PIO could not confirm whether or not the gunman had any hostages, as the investigation is still underway. We’ll update when we learn more.
