RideScout offerings near Union Station.RideScout, an app that aims to aggregate all your transportation options into one place, has officially launched in D.C.
Available for both iOS and Android, the app pieces together information from Metro, other public transportation networks, Car2Go, SideCar, taxi-hailing app Hailo and Capital Bikeshare. Notably not included is Uber, which doesn’t shares its information with any other sites. RideScout spokeswoman Rachel Charlesworth said they are “continually looking to bring on new partners,” and are asking users to lobby national services like Lyft to come on as partners.
The app shows the available transportation options on both a map and list, which features departure and arrival times, and the estimated cost of using each mode of transit. Users must log on through either Facebook, Google Plus or Twitter.
When this DCist editor downloaded RideScout for her Android phone, there were some issues. Namely getting certain routes to load completely. Charlesworth said the Android app is in beta, so it’s still being improved. She said they are working on ways to bring it “to the next level” at the moment.
