To promote the Museum of Science Fiction and raise some money for their cause, organizers with do the only reasonable thing to get attention: Send Stormtroopers to the Capitol.
While the idea for a Museum of Science Fiction seems to be a hit, organizers have raised just over $27,000 of a $160,000 goal with 13 days to go. This money would go toward creating a preview location, which would “test exhibit concepts and share an insider’s look into the process of building the full- scale facility.”
At 9 a.m. on Sunday, 25 members of the 501st Legion, a Star Wars costuming organization, will gather at 3rd Street SE near the Capitol Reflecting Pool to create a video for the museum. Dressed as Imperial Stormtroopers, they are also scheduled to make stops at the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station (Seventh and F Streets NW), the Smithsonian’s National Air & Space Museum (National Mall side), and other spots along the Mall.
DCist will have a photographer on the scene. Check back Monday for a full recap.
