This weekend, the National Zoo’s panda cub got a name, Bao Bao. For the Bao Bao lover in your life, give the gift of a panda this holiday season.
No, you can’t give your niece or nephew an actual panda. But you can give them an Adopt a Species package, which includes a stuffed animal, certificate, photo and fact sheet. Beyond the panda, other adoptable species include the African lion, American flamingo, Asian elephant, bald eagle, California sea lion, cheetah, clouded leopard, giant anteater, golden lion tamarin, Komodo dragon, meerkat, red panda, Sumatran tiger and Western Lowland gorilla.
For Cyber Monday, the Zoo is offering a discount on the packages: “The discounted $30 adopt package normally retails for $40, and includes a personalized certificate and letter of appreciation, fact sheet and 5×7 inch photo of your adopted species. The $60 adoption package normally retails for $65, and includes everything in the $30 adoption package plus a cute 12 inch plush shipped in a custom animal carrier box.”
