As you’ve likely heard, doom in the form of a wintry mix and possible snow is headed our way. The city is urging residents to stay inside this weekend, cling to their loves one and cheer on a sports team.
“Freezing rain is the most dangerous winter condition there is, so we urge residents to stay safe and stay home,” William O. Howland, Jr., director of D.C.’s Department of Public Works, said in a statement. “Make this a time for enjoying family, rooting for your favorite football team or catching up on that book you’ve been meaning to read.”
Reading and family time? Now that really is doom.
To prepare for the nasty weather, DPW will “deploy more than 200 plows to commercial and residential streets Sunday morning.”
The team is closely tracking the weather. If there is no rain Saturday, crews will apply the brine/beet juice solution to bridges, ramps, other elevated structures and challenging residential streets to reduce the chance of freezing.
The wizards who predict the weather currently say D.C. may get snow Sunday followed sleet and/or freezing rain. Or nothing may happen! But just to be safe, buy 74 loaves of bread and 35 rolls of toilet paper tonight.
